Winter Weather Update: Duke Energy workers clean up mess
Power crews from Duke Energy and others are continuing to work hard to restore power to the thousands of customers that were left cold and in the dark due to the massive ice storm that hit the Triad and other surrounding areas on Friday. Duke customers in Guilford, Randolph, and Davidson counties may be without electricity until 11 p.m. this coming Wednesday. Utility crews in the Triad’s three major cities were able to restore power to most of their respective residents. Friday’s ice storm is the worst winter weather event to hit the Triad in almost 12 years. The last time a winter storm like this hit the Triad area was on December 4, 2002, when a massive ice storm hit the area, knocking out power to thousands of residents.
