Special based on ‘Toy Story’, 48-year-old Charlie Brown Special beat ‘Arrow’ In the Ratings
Attention everyone who loves either the continuing adventures of Woody and Buzz Lightyear, and/or a combined story of a beagle imagining he’s a WWI flying ace and a boy waiting for the Great Pumpkin to come: ABC’s respective reruns of both Toy Story of Terror! and It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown earned them some of the highest ratings of the night. Both broadcasts drew 6.2 million viewers. Toy Story of Terror! drew 1.8 million in the crucial 18-49 demographic in the 8pm half hour, while ratings for It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown in that same demographic were even higher, earning 2.1 million viewers during the 8:30pm half hour.
In the same half hour where ABC aired the Toy Story special, The CW aired a new episode of the depressing superhero show Arrow and drew only 2.2 million viewers and a 0.8 rating among adults 18-49 at 8pm. Just goes to show that although superheroes are winning the box-office thanks in large part to the Marvel Cinematic Universe produced by Walt Disney Studios, they’re not doing so well on TV, especially when there are dark and depressing storylines.
The overall ratings winner last night was a new episode of CBS’s Criminal Minds, with over 10 million viewers in the 9pm hour.
